Torso — series 2006

The series of works on paper — a unique material, made in India, which is itself a work of art.

It is common for Strumillo that the subject matter, although given a familiar title, dwells in the realm of thought, between the sky and the earth, between the spiritual and the corporeal nature. This series is, however, darker than the ones that precede it. The works portray man as a creature prone to vulnerability. The source of this vulnerability is blurred on purpose in order to accentuate its result: bare flesh of human body.
